What is Reiki?

„Self-healing means bringing your own body closer to the self and experiencing the feeling of wholeness again.“

The word Reiki comes from Japanese and means “universal life energy”.

It is made up of two syllables: “Rei” describes the all-encompassing aspect of this energy, and “Ki” means the life force that flows through every living being in its own individual form.

The “Ki” in Reiki corresponds to the “Qi” or “Chi” known from other Far Eastern forms of energy work such as Qi Gong and Tai Chi.

Reiki works on the principle that illness, anger or stress change our vibration. The human organism is thrown into a state of disharmony, and the vibrations in the body fall out of order. When universal life energy acts on an organism that has lost its balance, it can be guided back into a harmonious vibration.

Because the unity of body and soul has its own level of regulation, it can use the life energy flowing in from the Reiki practitioner to regulate itself and distribute that energy through the body in the best possible way, so that in the end the energy always flows to the places where it is needed most. All of us still carry this old healing power deep in our awareness. When we are in pain we intuitively place a hand on the affected part of our body and feel that something is flowing there, something that soothes and calms.

Reiki sessions simply feel good and let the energy inside you flow freely again.
