Fear of Dental Treatment
You only go to the dentist when the pain becomes unbearable. Or you ask for a general anaesthetic before every procedure.
Even the smell of a dental practice or the sight of the gleaming instruments unsettles you.
You feel the fear rising and everything in you is set on escape.
What avoidance costs
Fear of the dentist is the one fear that takes physical revenge. Whoever avoids the check-up returns later with bigger problems.
A small cavity becomes a root canal. A root canal becomes a lost tooth.
And with every postponed appointment something else grows: the bad conscience and the shame of having stayed away so long.
Many of my clients describe exactly that as the hardest part — not the treatment itself, but the thought of having to explain themselves.
Where the fear comes from
Almost always there is a concrete experience at the start. Often in childhood, often with an anaesthetic that did not work properly.
Back then you were small, you could not speak up and you could not leave. That feeling of being at someone’s mercy was stored away.
Your subconscious learned from it: dentist means danger. And it holds on to that in order to protect you — even thirty years later.
That is why it does not help to tell yourself that modern treatment is different. Your mind has known that for a long time.
How life coaching with hypnosis helps
LIFE COACHING with HYPNOSIS makes it possible for you to recognise the causes of your fear and to switch off the tormenting film running in your head.
The old experience loses its weight
Together we look at where it began. Once the situation is recognised and placed, it stops reaching into the present.
You change your perception from within
You will change your inner attitude towards dental treatment and the way you perceive it, entirely out of your own resources.
Sounds and smells that used to trigger alarm at once lose their meaning.
You are given something for the dentist’s chair
You learn a short anchor you can use in the waiting room and in the chair. Nobody sees it, and it works within seconds.
You will feel inwardly free, able to keep your dental appointments and, in doing so, to keep your teeth healthy.
How it works
The first session lasts 90 minutes and costs 130 euros. It leaves time for your story, for setting your goal, and already for a hypnosis.
Each further session costs 90 euros for 60 minutes. All details are on my price list.
If the fear also appears in other situations, do have a look at Anxiety and Panic Attacks.
Frequently asked questions
Does hypnosis replace the anaesthetic at the dentist?
No, and this matters. What is anaesthetised and how is decided solely by your dentist.
My work comes beforehand: you should be able to keep the appointment at all and to lie calmly in the chair. The treatment itself stays in dental hands.
How many sessions will I need?
With fears tied to a specific situation it usually goes quickly. Two to three sessions are often enough, depending on how long the fear has existed.
After the first conversation I can give you an estimate and will tell you openly what I consider necessary.

Heart to heart and as equals. Request an appointment or call +49 177 6839890. Sessions in English are available.
Hypnosis accompanies and supports therapy; it does not replace medical or dental treatment. Anaesthesia, sedation and general anaesthetic are decided by your dentist alone.
